MITOCHONDRIA GALLERY

Our art educational event at the Mitochondria Gallery was a transformative experience. By providing a platform for grassroots group Black Girls In Art Spaces to explore their creativity and learn through the arts, we've shown the power of education in action. The event was a resounding success with a full registration and a waitlist.

Mitochondria Gallery was thrilled to present summer group exhibition, "When the Sun Stands Still," featuring eleven visual artists from Western to Eastern Africa. The exhibition title is a nod to the summer solstice, the longest day of the year. It also metaphorically represents the moments in time that the exhibiting artists have captured in their works.

Employing styles in the form of realism with elements of abstraction and surrealism, these artists document individuality and shared experiences within their locality. By honing their artistic vernacular and process, they offer unique perspectives on the world around them.

The exhibition was a testament to the power of art to connect people across cultures and inspire new ways of seeing. We are grateful for the opportunity to have curated this event and look forward to future collaborations with Mitochondria Gallery and the talented artists featured in "When the Sun Stands Still.
